The Friends

Welcome to the Friends of the Weaver Hall Museum and our new website.

Our group was formed in 1999, under the Chairmanship of Murray Jones, as the Friends of the Salt Museum.

In 2007, when Murray retired, Jenny Tyson became the Chair and is supported by a keen and dedicated committee.

In 2010, the Salt Museum was re-launched as the Weaver Hall Museum & Workhouse following the re-organisation of local government when the facilities became part of Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Museum Service.

The Friends currently have over 300 members and their aim is to support the Museum and ensure that its rich heritage is safeguarded for future generations.

The Friends organise regular events at the Museum and outside venues.  They also support the Curator in his work at the Museum.
