Plastic Fantastic?
19th August 2017

Polythene was discovered in 1933 by Reginald Gibson and Eric Fawcett at the ICI Winnington laboratories.

This volunteer-led exhibition, supported by the Royal Society’s Local Heroes fund, celebrates the individuals who made the discovery and its important contribution to the modern world.

It also explores the contemporary environmental issues around the use of polythene and its significance in everyday life.
