The Most F.A.Q. "How is Matt?"
16th April 2012

We can report that he is alive, well and living in a beautiful part of south east Ireland.  Jim and I visited the Museum where he is the curator and we can only say “Wow!” What a wonderful setting to work in; the grounds and castle are stunning and the museum just goes on and on.  We arrived at about 10.30 and we were there all day.  We wandered in the extensive grounds, had lunch in the café, toured the museum and its huge collection of artefacts and then were treated to a “behind the scenes” tour by Matt.

We were introduced to his staff, to the volunteers and to the peacocks wandering around outside.  There is obviously great potential at the museum and, in usual Matt style, some inroads have already been made.  They had an overwhelmingly successful Easter, thanks to Ann’s help and creativity, with an “Egg Hunt” inside the museum.  Not surprisingly visitor numbers are already up on the previous year.

Later in the week when we shared an evening together, in a delightful harbour village near their home, Matt and Ann told us about their life over there and some of their hopes for the future.  They are obviously enjoying it; are enthusiastically planning their next ventures and enjoying long walks on the beach with the dogs.

The day that we left Matt was expecting a large gathering of tractors.  We passed several as we journeyed north, slowly making their way to the museum.  The boys from Wales had come off the ferry that morning and the Irish lads were arriving from all directions. We hope that they successfully catered for them all as they had projected numbers of “anything from one to four hundred”!

Matt sends a message to you all and hopes that if you are ever in the area you will get in touch and pay a visit to the museum. We can definitely recommend it for a “grand day out!”
