New member of the Museum Team
1st January 2016

The Friends of the Museum welcome Gina Cottam as a new member of the team at our Museum ....

Gina has been appointed as the new learning and interpretation officer.

Gina worked previously as the heritage learning officer for Lancashire County Council's museums service.

Gina was also drawn to the job because it offers her the chance to get more involved with exhibitions.

Although the job is about learning and working with the schools and community, part of the job is going to be curatorial – doing exhibitions work.

On joining the Museum Gina said "I really like it. I like the fact that there's loads of different aspects to it.

There's the workhouse history of the building, and I love the Victorian schoolroom, but I like the diverse range – the transport gallery, the industrial voices gallery and the objects related to Northwich from all different periods of history.

It's a museum that tells local history and the stories of Northwich people while being true to its history as a building."

She added: "It's got a fantastic schools learning programme which is very well established and extremely popular, so that will be about carrying on the good work really."

The Friends wish Gina well in her new postion.
