Bags of fun at Weaver Hall Museum

Families can enjoy hidden treasures at our Museum in a new way thanks to youngsters from Castle ....

Weaver Hall has launched explorer bags to help children interpret collections and make the most of their museum visit.

Staff from the museum and the Skills for Families, Life and Work Service have been working with parents, carers and teachers of children from Charles Darwin Primary School.

They have visited Weaver Hall, given their ideas about what should be in the explorer bags and helped to create them in a project called Hidden Treasures.

Children aged between five and 11 have been involved in the project and tested out the finished bags at a Family Learning Festival at the museum.

The bags encouraged them to look closely at the displays with magnifying glasses and I spy cards, find their favourite object and chat together as a family about what they had found.

The Friends congratulate the Museum on this innovative way forward with our younger visitors.
