Award for Museum
1st June 2011

Congratulations must go to all Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse staff. The Friends knew it, but now the museum is officially recognised again by Visit England, the tourism authority.

The Weaver Hall Museum have been rewarded with another Rosette from the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme (VAQAS)   at Visit England.

The museum was judged to be of a ‘high standard’, with a ‘fresh appeal’ since becoming the Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse, and yet the ‘museum continued to offer a good interpretation of the salt industry story’.

There was further praise, the museum was said to be a ‘huge asset’ which was followed by a very impressive comment and I quote ‘standards of presentation and interpretation are very high indeed – certainly comparable with the metropolitan museums of the north west’.

Wow! An accolade, I would say, and I am sure you all agree – well deserved!

Jenny Tyson - Chair of Friends of the Weaver Hall Museum.
