Wartime Industry and Working Women in Cheshire, 1914-1950
9th November 2018 - 7th December 2018

During the first half of the twentieth century, Britain’s involvement in the two World Wars led to a great shortage of industrial and mechanical labourers, necessitating a significant shift in the gender balance of the industrial workplace.

Curated by Joseph Roberts, this exhibition explores Cheshire’s important contribution to the war effort, the stories of the valiant women who kept the county (and country) going during the conflicts, and their continued contribution to local industry in the aftermath of war and beyond.
