Film Night: Anna Karenina (2012)
28th February 2013
Friends' Event: Film night
Anna Karenina (2012) (cert 12A) - Set in late-19th-century Russia high-society, the aristocrat Anna Karenina enters into a life-changing affair with the affluent Count Vronsky.
Written by Tom Stoppard and starring Keira Knightley and Jude Law, this is a beautiful and visually stunning film set in late 19th century Russia high society.
Despite the great acting this is the director's film. The style is so bold that at first I was worried that it wouldn't work but to keep a city as vast as Saint Petersburg inside one theatre then having the rest of the world to play with outside the city was a fantastic idea which was pulled off with pinpoint precision.
Overall Anna Karenina is a enchanting film.
